As the director, my vision for this film was to explore themes of isolation, emotional transformation, and the stupidity of cultural norms that most of the time are very limiting your success. I wanted to depict the tension between the desire for change and the harsh reality of missed opportunities. Through the use of grey tones juxtaposed with spontaneous actions., I aimed to reflect the protagonist’s inner struggle, creating a visual metaphor for the emotional impact this relationship has on him.
A streetwise guy meets a vibrant girl who tries her hardest to pull him out of his dull routine and add color to his life. He was ready to change, but now there’s no one left to change for.
The big inspiration for this film was the surroundings I was growing up in and the tension of not fitting in. A crucial part is playing post-Soviet influence on culture, and ambience. I tried to implement it to my visual style as much as bring it to the music.
The project required crafting a lighting scheme that mimicked the submerged and mystical qualities of underwater scenes using blue and green light filters to achieve an aquatic hue.
We incorporated moving lights with wave-like effects and utilized a haze machine to soften and diffuse the light, emulating the ocean’s natural luminescence.
